Pity me

Pity me.. for today I caught so many bass that my thumb is sore, raw, and a bit torn up from lipping all those fish... Hehe.. seriously.. it is... and I have never had that happen before! I nabbed 30+ bass (including a 20" 4.8 lb smallie)

All were caught around inside weedlines using dark wacky rigged senkos (comidas) around 7-9 feet.. and yes... all were released for you guys to TRY to catch.

It was an unusual day... most days I've been out this summer I might get 6-12 bass.. must have been the HEAT and WIND... my anchor couldn't even hold me on most of the lake.. I had to fish the sheltered side... which of course is where all the waterskiers went too. Most of the bass were less than 2 lbs so really nothing much for size but the one smallmouth.. man do they fight.. took me 5+ minutes to get him in and the whole time this loaded pontoon boat stopped to watch around 50 feet away.

Today I'm sure would be a great day as well.. but considering it's Sat and the boat traffic and holiday weekend and all.. I wouldn't dare to go out now that it's after noon.

I feel that bass fishing peaks now.. and for a few more weeks.. best weeks of the year. That's been my experience the last 2 years. Although I hear the fall bite can be very good.. but I basically quit fishing Sept 1.
