12V Parrallel Wiring ???

Tahoe2349

Question

Bought a converter and want to wire "parrallel" to (2) 12v Deep Cycles..

The guy at place of purchase said I must intercept the jumpers in between the two posts with my converter lines???

I think my Dads is hooked from converter to the first battery.. and then a jumper from Neg - Neg and Pos - Pos to the second battery. I can't look at it as its in storage and he thinks the "info" I got is goofy !! Any help out there appreciated

I thought the "principal" was the same but could not see any reason to create splices to a connection not needed !!

This guy also told me the converter must have a hot lead to both batteries to resupply both.. otherwise it will only recharge the battery the "converter" is directly connected too ?
Any follow up appreciated.. I'm "NOT" your big 12V wizard as you can see..

Hook it up the same as yoyr dad and don't worry about that other guy. If you hook the batteries pos to pos and neg to neg then just hook the unit up to either battery and don't worry when you recharge the batteries they will charge together. Enjoy

Just like everyone else said. Hook it up like your dad did. Your "hot lead to both batteries" is your jumper wires. Where the conection is doesn't matter. Think of the 2 batteries connected that way as one big 12V battery.
The only thing that I would recommend is do not use two different batteries or one new one and one used one, as the system will only perform as good as the weakest battery.
Hope this helps. arbuck

Thanks guys!!
The old man made me a deal on my situation.
I had two old and different batteries.. he sent me to pull his out of storage and so I could look at the hook up..
Told me if I "waxed" it for him he would give me both his one year old "deep cycles" from Interstate, and I had to go P/U two new Trojans for him and rehook the system...

No $$$$ so I figured a two hour wax job was well worth the batteries ... I'm powered and ready smile.gif
