Graph vs Flasher

Just looking for some opinions. Last winter when I bought my LX3, one of my thoughts was to buy the transducer kit and put it in the front of my boat for summer. Now that the time has come, I am second guessing myself. I am now debaing on instead spending the same amount of money as a transducer kit on a low end graph. There are a few out there for the same price and I am not sure which way to go. Another factor is that my usual fishing partner that would be looking at it is my 8 year old son. For him it will have to be easy which pretty much fits the bill of both directions that I am looking at. Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks for the thread address. I was looking for it but hadn't gotten that far. I pulled the trigger today and bought the Eagle Cuda 242. Was only ten bucks more than the 168 but the screen looked tons better. Now I can just put the Marcum in the closet til' ice time.
