Water spots on GPS screen

Guest

Question

I have a LCX110C. Is there any way to avoid getting water spots on the sgreen other than avoiding water. I had somebody tell me to wipe screen with motor oil but I am hesitant to experiment with a $2000 unit. Anybody have any other remedies or experience with the motor oil thing?

I had the same problem today and whem I get my screen clean with vinegar I am going to put on some rain-x. Some one on the forum said to use it on splash gaurds so when I break it out more then one thing will get a good wipe down. You must really enjoy that large screen. wink.gif I just got the LCX25c and I love it.

Thanks when you try rain-x let me know how it works. The big screen is awsome When I fish with my buddy he says he can see the sreen so he doesn't have to constantly ask me what depth we are in. Bad thing is he can also tell when I'm not paying attention and stayig on my plot trail.

I use closer to 10% or 20% white vinegar with water on my color screens.

I haven't had to fix scratches on my color units, but on an earlier unit (lms 350A) I used Meguires Plastic Polish (from the auto parts section of Fleet Farm) to polish the screen and remove small scuffs and scratchs. Worked great. I've never tried it on color screens though.

I have wondered about using polish but have been afraid to use it in case there would be some anti glare coating on it or something.

On another note anyone have a suggestion on taking a scratch out on a flat screen computer moniter?

On my lms 350 I used Brasso to take out some bad scratchs but I never went into the car care area to see what was available. Plastic polish might not be as abrassive as Brasso. Also works on watch crystals.I agree with being cautious on the color screen because it almost looks like a multi-coated lense.
