0 PerchJerker
I've never used them, don't know anyone that has. I don't think they're all that popular. What do you have for a boat/motor, what are you hoping to do that you can't do now?
0 bgfish00
Just looking at replacing my Bow Mount that has not been reliable.
0 Lost
I've looked at them but the price is insane. What they do is mount to your outboard, just below the lower unit. That way when you're going along, you just use your steering wheel to turn the outboard while trolling along. My biggest fear is shallow water. The outboard prop is in enough danger. Having the trolling motor mounted below it is only asking for disaster!!
0 hcrider
Most of these units appear to mount above the prop on the outboard. I think they'd be a great idea, and I don't really think the prices were outrageous from what I've seen.
0 stmichael
I guess it all depends on what you are fishing for, if you are fishing bass and alot of times you need to go into shore, because you were squirrel hunting. or get a snagged close to shore on a pile of rocks anybody that has fished the lakes in the Orr, area... ie: Pelican, Vermilion, just to name a couple, you know that there can be issues with rocks. If you have your motor up to be "safe" from the rocks then your trolling motor is out of the water, If the trolling motor is mounted underneath the lower unit I cannot imagine there is much forgiveness if you hit something, at least on a traditional trolling motor bow or transom mount you have flexibility if you run into a rock or tree, these are made to take punishment. Overall they look like a great idea, just depends on what you are fishing for.
0 Surface Tension
If your replacing your bow mount with it you'll be disappointed by how sluggish your steering is. I see them as a last resort when a bow mount or transom mount isn't possible. Keep with the bow mount, boat control is so much better when when its getting pulled. 0 BigWadeS
I like the one I have, handle fine, I troll mostly for walleye and northern so it works for me. Has enough power and speed and works well for backtrolling too. I just wish I could figure out what happened to my wiring this year. I miss it.
