Had the boat out for day of fishing. Boat started up and ran fine just like it should. Got to my spot, turned off the motor, pulled it up out of the water and started trolling for the afternoon.
Put motor back down, started it up, started heading back to launch and boat would not take off, I would give it trottle and it barely moved more than a couple mph.
Drove back to the launch, after I got boat on the trailer I find line tangled up several times around the prop.
I havent had the boat out since. I got all the line untangled and off from the prop.
My question is, could there possibly have been some damage done to the motor? Is there anything I should check for first before I start it back up again?
The motor is a 70's 40hp Johnson 2-stroke with electric start. It was just freshly rebuilt last year and has worked fine. This is my first boat so bear with me this is all new to me?
I am so very sorry to hear this and so sorry for the loss of Chamois. She was beautiful companion.
We will always miss the dogs we have lost. Unfortunately we lost both of our dogs just 6 days apart in November.
