bass and carp

Wondering if the presence of carp change the way bass behave and where they locate. I was fishing a lake with carp in the shallows jumping and slapping the waters. Would bass that normally be in the shallows relocate to deeper waters or other areas because of all the water activity the carp are creating? I just don't want to waste my time in the shallows if the carp drive them out.

I believe the carp do affect the bass. My secret lake was like that during opening weekend. Saturday, caught some nice bass. No action from the carp. Monday rolls around, and the carp are in full swing. No bites. I sight fish this lake and usually see bass roaming in the shallows. All I see are schools of carp every 30 seconds swim by. Some even come right up to my waders.

What i have heard is that carp feed on the same thing smaller minnows and Gizzard shad feed on. so there should be a good food chain there. however a spawning carp isn't always a feeding carp. What i know is that this is all hearsay and could be way off. If any experts (fish/marine biologists)would like to chime in i would soak it up. ike
