the directional arrow quit working on top of my minnkota maxxium trolling motor can this be fixed easily or is it something i just live without

Very simple!

p/n 226220 drive indicator was usually the culprit. You may also want to check the 2 gears that drive the indicator (p/n 2267800).

where can i get the schmetic that shows these parts also is there a place to pick up these parts in town or do you have to order them thru minnkota.THANKS

Call MK. They can fax you the schematic of your motor. You will need your s/n. They can also tell you the closest ASC.

Let's just say I have some contacts at MK.

I had the same problem. It was an easy fix and I did not need a schematic. The part was less then $10. If I recall you will need to loosen your tension screw on the foot pedal adjust the two gears mentioned and seat the directional properly. I was able to get the part at Motor Clinic in Bloomington on west old shakopee road. It was actually the cable tension that caused mine to "break".

when you say get the part do you remember what part it was also where are the gears are they in the foot pedal or in the head of the trolling motor

Head - right under the pointer. The top of the composite shaft/tube has a metal drum/pinion gear assembly. There are 2 white plastic gears that go from the pinion over to the drive gear (the drive gear drives the pointer).
