Croix 'eye

Had some luck on the river last night, caught some trolling lead core, mostly small with one 24"er, switched to lindy/crawler rig and caught numerous wallyes with handful around 17-18 inches and then this guy, a 28 incher. The best bite seemed to come out of about 15' of water.

That's a beauty Stratosman! My biggest for the croix is still 25". Hopefully I'll get one like that sometime. I need to get out there during the week more when fishing pressure is less. Thanks for the report!

Thanks, that's my biggest off the Croix so far as well, it's kind of wierd that the Mississippi puts out so many eye's that big on a regular basis and the Criox has seemingly so few.. my biggest off the Croix prior to that one was about a 25 incher as well caught last November. Till then weekdays are the best by far if you can swing it.

I wondered that about the St. Croix, too. Though, it does seem to me that this year the number of big fish (24"+) reported has increased.

My best on the croix is only 20", caught yesterday. I can catch numbers of smaller fish but the big ones elude me. Do the bigger fish hang out in different areas?
