ddsbyday
Was that a typo or was that really a 4lb.+ crappie in this weeks outdoor news? There also was an article on the state record which I didn't buy except that if a 4lb 8oz could be caught now why couldn't a 5+ exist back when the pressure was a lot less. T-ProGuy
I hate to be a naysayer, but there is no way that crappie was 4+ pounds. Look at the picture, and it is pretty easy to see that the guy is holding the fish with his arms fully extended in front of his body. There is a picture of another crappie just below it that is listed at 2 lbs., and these two fish look to be very close in size. Just my 2 cents... SUNNYD
Well I haven't seen the picture you are talking about, but in my avatar(left) is a 15.5" I caught a couple years ago that was caught in mid-January and went about 2.5 lbs (shes still swimming!). I have seen them all the way up to 18", someone posted here within the last two years and I thought that went a little over 3.5 lbs, but that is as big as I have seen. Did the article say how long the fish was? At that weight I would expect that best to go somewhere near 20". I would be interested to hear all the details.
