Kurt Paulsen
I am curious if anyone will be camping. The park closes at 10:30 and squad cars do patrol quite frequently. How will we handle the overnight issue? Does anyone want to contact the park office to see if we could perhaps get overnight permission? With a group that could be sizable, it might not be a bad idea to let them know anyways...
rushing
If people are camping or parked at the boat landing it shouldnt be a big deal. The only time I have ever heard of anyone being harassed by the cops for fishing is if they are parked somewhere other than the camp ground or the boat landing. jtk15
First time out the "community services" officer called dispatch on Jeff and I to see if we were within the "rules of the park" and they said leave 'em along. I adivsed, this is routine all summer, he contacted dispatch and they must have said its fine....May not be a bad idea to mention something to them though Rob, as this looks to be getting big... jk
rushing
Well Jamie you're more than welcome to contact people if you want to. You weren't breaking any sort of rules, that's why you got left alone. It's no wonder you trouble makers got harrassed being as shifty looking as you guys are! icehousebob
I'm hoping to make it, barring unseen spousal stuff. It would be nice if one of the local gentlemen could make sure it will be offically alright to set up tents. If we have a group camping out, we have to make some arrangements for Sunday morning breakfast. Plan 'A' would be for one of the super wealthy members of the group like Dennis Steele to take us all out for breakfast and write it off on his taxes. Plan 'B' would be for me to bring my camp cooking kit and cook breakfast, as long as I can find an assistant or two. We would have to have some idea of how many to plan for and I don't know whether I would care to pick up the tab on all the groceries by myself. You guys have any ideas on this? We can't have people going home and telling their wives that we didn't feed them. They wouldn't be allowed to come out and play with us any more. rushing
As far as camping...there is a camp ground right there. As for the rest of the stuff I really dont know. I am not sure who is camping out or what. Sounds good though.

Now Bob.....You have been to my place, so you know I have very little wealth, unless it is measure in the amount of junk you have laying in the yard, or the "aroma" comming from the bait shed. icehousebob
Sorry Dennis, I just figured anyone who owns a RiverPro had to be amazingly rich. I take it you prefer plan'B'. I'm not a bad camp cook if you can live with stuff like pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs in several forms(I don't do Eggs Benedict). Just so we can stretch the group out so they don't all line up at once demanding food. It would be nice to know how many people will be staying till breakfast, and whether it would be worth bringing out my cooking gear.

icehousebob
Two or three of my male offspring want to camp out there on Saturday night with me. So it looks like I will be setting up to cook breakfast for our group. If any one else wants to join the breakfast club, let me know so I can plan for it. Reservations are recommended at "Bob's Breakfast Bistro." I'll be out of state fishing for the next week so anyone wanting to reserve a table, leave word here and I'll put you on the guest list. AQUAJOE
Rushing are you going to post some directions? I am getting conflicting directions that are putting me in 2 totally different spots. Oh how do we all find each other? (Name Tags )
rushing
Park info Directions - Land of memories park is on the South West side of Mankato. Coming from the cities follow 169 through Mankato, you will cross over the MN river then the Blue Earth River. The turn off for the park is right off of 169 about a mile after crossing over the Blue Earth river. It will be on the right hand side. Not sure excatly what time I'll be down there, prolly around 1-2pm. I know some people will be camping so there should already be people down there. We usually meet around the boat landing and there is a huge field there we can set up in if its not too hot. If its too hot there is a covered picnic area right near there. I'll bring a couple boxes of brauts and buns(hoping someone brings a grill). If anyone is willing to bring food shout out what you wanna bring. (paper plates couldnt hurt either)

icehousebob
Hey Rushing, I drove through Land of Mammories park yesterday while returning from SoDak and I couldn't find the boat launch. That's one big park. And they had some sort of celebration going on with thousands of people. The guys working there must have been temps because they didn't know where the launch was. They had some decent camp sites but are there any near the launch and how do we get reservations? I'm planning on bringing my cooking box and gear and cooking under a canopy but I have to pick up a new canopy because a tree fell on mine last week in soDak. I'll be back in business by Saturday so anyone in need of a camp cook, especially for breakfasts, I'll be there. I could use some idea of how many to count on. MENU: bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, etc. Contributions to the larder would be welcome. Let's go whack some cats!!!
