moving a boat lift?

Bigbartguy

Question

folks, I'm looking at buying a used boat lift, but am concerned about moving the darn thing. I believe that the lift weighs around 400lb.

I figure I can rent a trailer to move it, but am mostly concerned with getting it ONTO the trailer. How many guys do you think I would need for this? Getting some buddies to help is going to be a problem. Is there an 'easier' way to load the lift? (winches, etc etc.?)

I'll pay someone to install it once it's at my cabin. the prob is getting it there!

we put wheels on our's it works great for geting it in the water. as for moving it on a trailer if you and 2 other guys tilt it up slid the trailer under and pull it or push the rest of the way you should be good.look for the wheels there worth the $$$$

I'm thinking it would be moved from the Brainerd area to the Mcgregor area. I'm still looking at used lifts so not sure where I'll end up buying.

I'd hate to have to buy new just to get it delivered.

Rent a pontoon trailer... back under it, winch it up ratchet strap it down. The heavier the trailer, the better as the height of the lift makes it top heavy. I moved a #3500 lift from the cities to Cass Lake this way. By the way 4 guys could easily lift mine as it weighs maybe #400s.

Good Luck!

I bought a pontoon lift in Alexadria and put it on my two place snowmobile trailer. The guy I bought it from helped me put it on the trailer and I strapped her down. Trailered it from Alex to the cities then up to Grand Rapids. No problems. To get it into possition in the lake I took three old tractor inner tubes and filled them half ways with air, slid one on each side and one in the front. All I had to do is hold up the back and push it into possition. I did not have a straight shot to our beach so I had to put the lift in at the neighbors, about 1000' down the shore line.

Worked for me.

Good Luck,

Mike
