nolte
rundrave Why all the animosity towards Favre and the Pack. It's not their fault you cheer for an inferior team in the last decade. Just because your team couldn't get past a drunken Collins or a Dirty Bird, don't take it out on us. Now I know the storied tradition and atomosphere of the HHH rollerdome pales in comparison to the hallowed tundra at Lambeau Field, but sheesh ease up on the negativity. Tell you what offer up all the stunning vikes playoff performances in near history besides the Lambeau victory to show us how much better they are and we'll call it even. crickets, anyone else hear crickets. Just let me know when the vikes decide to get serious and make a run, then I'll pay a little more attention to the Packer's ugly (Broncos lookalike) little sister. Ballbuster
Quote:Quote:Our O will step up this year and we will have the best "D" in the entire leagueyeah they will step it up, maybe Kyle Orton will average more than 100yds per game passing this year. I forgot about all the positive off-season improvements to the bears offense, watch out NFC north! The bears do have a GREAT defense I wont deny that, but cmon admit your offense is weak and you know it. Ok, first off Kyle Orton will not be starting QB this year so we will throw for more than 100 yards a game. Secondly, we are a run first team, we believe in that and count on our "D" to hold the opponents score down. That's always been Chicago's style ala Bears football. I would like to see us open it up and as I have stated in other posts we will this year either with Rex or Griese. What did you expect when we started a rookie QB last year? Bottom line we did enough to win the Division last year but that wasn't enough come playoff time. It will be different this year and you all will see. If I'm wrong I'm man enough to come back here and face the music. I'm that confident in my team.
Ballbuster
Quote:I'll give the bears their props, they had a great defense last year but they didn't address a need like a solid off player. G.B didn't get a o-line player, which they need Favre will be killed again this year. GB did get a good defensive draft I will give them that. The Vikes besides Greenway looks like they drfted a bunch of special teams players, I not sure but I believe that GB did have the best draft of all North teams Appreciate the props for the team. Now, for the draft. We returned all 22 starters from last year and we were looking to add depth this year via the draft. At 26 what impact player were we going to add? The only one I saw was WR Chad Jackson from Florida but the Bears have cofidence in Mark Bradley (knee) & our speedster A. Currie. B. Berrian showed some promise at the end of last year. We have a solid core of RB's even though Benson didn't make much of an impact because of injury & Jones had a good season. I think we would have taken TE L. Pope in the third but Arizona picked him just ahead of us.
rundrave
you know this is all in fun not once did I say the Vikes were inferior or superior to pack or the bears, I simply stated that they have not done any more than the vikes. the truth is in the numbers folks, and sometimes the truth hurts, I wasnt being negative just stating the FACTS sorry I sent all you Packer fans into post tramatic stress syndrome, bringing up the last great 10 years or so of the success brett favre and the packers have had. nolte
rundrave Don't worry I'm not riled up in the least. Most of my posts come dripping with sarcasm which doesn't translate well over the computer. I just like to stir the pot with Vikings fans. I could care less if you think the Pack suck and Brett Favre is the worst QB to ever put on a pair of cleats. It's fun to toss a few darts out there and touch a nerve every once in awhile. Some more #s for you. NFC North, Central Division in the last 10 years. 5 titles Pack, 2 for Da Bears, 2 Queens, 1 Bucs. Past ten years only 6 different teams have won the big Prize, so the other 28 or so must suck. Truth, You can't handle the Truth.
JIvers
I read a neat column by one writer or another on the Packers in the last couple days...I wish I could take credit for this myself, but I can't. Anyhow, his theory is that since the Packers are a publicly-owned corporation, the board of directors is running the team as a business, and maximizing profits for the shareholders. This means cutting costs (not signing any free agents), while keeping public demand for their product up. So long as Favre is taking snaps, and the Packers are happy with their Super Bowl victories of ten and forty years ago, they will keep selling out Lambeau Field, and buying Green and Gold gear, even when their team goes 0-16, which is a possibility with the twenty-nine INTs/twenty TDs 2005 version of Brett Favre on the payroll. And, did anyone else notice this during ESPN's draft coverage: when they showed the shot of the Packers fans at Lambeau, one of them turned around to show the camera the back of his # 84 jersey, on which he had taped over the Walker name and wrote "Trader". Not "traitor": trader. Gotta love those Wisconsin public schools. This one I noticed myself. As for the Bears, any team which claims Curtis Enis, Cade McNown, Rashaan Salaam, and Rex Grossman among its recent first-round picks has little room for throwing stones. This is also the same franchise which, in its one Super Bowl victory twenty years ago, gave the ball to Wiliiam "The Refrigerator" Perry on the goal line so that fat novelty act could score a touchdown...while ignoring Walter Payton, one of the game's greatest players. james_walleye
Hey Run thank you for running those numbers on post superbowl stats on Favre. I said in about every post of mine i was talking post 1996. Yeah he got his superbowl, good for him i wish it was a viking ring, but im talking the last 10 years. You know, no one could more be p1ssed about the vikings playoff disasters in the last 8 years than i am, both the falcons and the giants were downright embarassing losses the way they happened. I know that and true vikings fans know this so packer fans bringing it up isnt a newsflash. So when i ask a legitimate question and this bit gets thrown out every time instead of just answering the question it just doesnt make sense. The vikings not winning a superbowl isnt the reason that Brett Favre is a great QB. I'm not bringing this is too jab it into packer fans sides, i have a legitimate question here. I mean every answer i've seen brings this up and every answer side steps what im asking. I never said "the big game", i said big games. Playoff games. It was brought up since the Denver loss his record is 2-5, this is my point. He let Michael Vick come into his house and beat him, Vick IS the most overrated player in the NFL. 6 INTS against the rams. This is what im talking about. I know he had a good run of playoff games leading up too the superbowl victory. If it wasnt for an awesome cowboy dynasty he may have gotten one before the patriot win as well. But im talking what has he done since like 1996. So once again i state, now that the official number is out, 2-5 since the Denver game, in the last 10 or so years its been more likely that Favre has been very bad in a playoff game rather than shined and carried his team too the next round. Im just wondering if its just really not possible for a packer fan too just step back in some form of reality and say, you know what, in the last 9 or so seasons, he really has shown a tendancy too not show up for big games. Brett Favre has not risen up in a long time and done the job. With some good talented teams that could have went too superbowls, he didnt get it done. Maybe, just maybe, his big game ability is a bit overblown. Is it possible for a packer fan too even consider this? And i probably have too end this again by stating that the vikings never winning a superbowl is not the reason Brett Favre is the greatest QB of all time. CanOCorn
How many Packer fans does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: 5 One to change the bulb and the other 4 to talk about how good the old bulb was.
