I use some stuff called "The Bom" it is awesome you can do your whole boat in 10-15 minutes. I guarantee you use this you'll be hooked. Same results as wax just much easier.

I have used some from StarBrite, can't remember the exact name but it was Teflon something. Have also used Race Glaze which is what I use on my vehicles.

I've always had good luck with Meguiars products for auto. I tried one of their waxes designed for Boat/RV last year. It seemed to work very well. http://www.meguiars.com/?boat-liquid-waxes/One-Step-Cleaner-Wax

Having said that, I think any quality car wax would be fine for protecting the finish. If your finish is looking dull you might want to use a cleaner product first.
