Ralph Wiggum
E-mail them to [email protected] and I'll put them up. I don't believe that there are blues in MN, but I guess that there could be a small number working their way up the river.
Big Cat Dad
The key is the anal fin. I doubt it was a blue. Many people misidentify blues and channels. Channel Cat VS. Blue Cat Identification
rushing
You already know my thoughts on it Chris but a 21lb channel is still super nice for the mn river!
Maashkinoozhe
According to a Fishes of MN HSOforum, Blues were introduced to the St. Croix drainage.http://www.gen.umn.edu/research/fish/fishes/distribution_table.htmlStill extremely rare in MN from what I understand. Hopefully you get a nice picture of that anal fin.Dave D,

hanson
I'm gonna take a guess that Rushing knows the 1st poster, no? Where's that photo Mr. Wiggum?? I've got $10 on the fish being a channel cat.
Dennis Steele
I assume that you were fishing with Rob. That means you were on the MN River. There isn't a population of blues in that river. Its possible....if some one released one, and you caught it, but it is highly unlikely that a blue has made it all the way from the Missy in southern Iowa and made its way all the way up to the Mankato area.Count the rays next time to be sure. DARK30
I wish we had Blues! But then again, If you drive the same hours it takes to get to Winnipeg from Mpls but only going south or southeast, your in Blue country! Actually, I've heard they frequent the Yankton area of the Mo River...anybody know about that? Details??

HuskerBen
Yes, the Missouri has blue cats. I grew up in the Sioux City area, and often caught blues in the 4-5 pound range from the wing dikes along the Nebraska side. If I had a boat back then, I might've found more. I'm told that Lewis and Clark lake is good for the three major species, but again, it helps to have a boat.Ben
