One Month!!!!!

Less than one month till I get my catfish virginity popped. I must admit I will be lost not being able to cast all day long, but I am really looking forward to the trip, yet because it is so far away from anything I have ever done, I find myself confused and flustered…I know what your thinking.. “the awesome Deitz Dittrich never gets confused and flustered…”

Dennis says we will be using circle hooks, which I have never done.

Dennis says we will be using cut bait…. Dudes, I am a bass guy.. What is bait and why on earth would you want to cut it? We bass guys bite the heads off our plastic worms so they sit nicer on the sinker, my guess is during a cat outing this behavior could put me in the E.R.

I brought my new ultra fancy rod and reel to the sterg trip, to which my good bunny Den says, NOPE… to stiff.. RATS!.. off to Cabelas to buy less stiff rod. To which Den wants me to put 40 lb mono on…They make 40 lb mono? Does it look like clear anchor rope?

Yep… this is going to be an odd trip for the Deitzster…I have a feeling I am going to be a lot like Bob in the movie “What about Bob”.. ---------Look I sail!!!!!

Deitz, it's a totally different world than bass fishing, that's for sure. Different, but good at the same time. I enjoy both very much.

Well I did decide that after fishing 3 days with the river rat dennis that I will NEVER be able to call myself a true catman. Many things he did just downright made me sick, The man was cleaning his boat during some slow fishing, and had to sniff everything! Sinkers, hooks, fillet knife, pliers... everything whent up to his nose!... Cant do it!... just cant do it!

Dennis wasnt cleaning the boat.. he was desperately seeking his dollar store needle nose pliers that accidently came home with me on the last fishing trip!

The *sniff, sniff* .. that would be him trying to locate the nightcrawler I dropped that found its way under the floor before I could catch it.

Dietz I noticed by the second day on the water you began to create a nice lob cast and you were setting rods like a pro, once you get the sniffing down I think you will fit in nicely to that elite group of anglers that communicate in grunts and sniffs.

Just practice around the house by sniffing everything you see and trying to find that just right smell. By the time you depart you will have it down!

Dietz opened a cooler of "sucker soup" (two day old dead sukers in a cooler) and just about puked!

Yup...got have a little more tolerance to rotten fish to be a cat man!
