Pheasant roosters!

I live around the Cambridge area, and latley I have been seeing alot of pheasant roosters. I would have to say that it was a good winter for the area pheasant population.

Has anyone else noticed alot of roosters in your area??

I have been to the golf course up there a couple of times and I have heard several different roosters. I dont know if they are cackling because they are happy they made it through the winter or if they are laughing at my golf game like everyone else. But there are alot of them out there. If we have a good spring it should be another great season.

I had another sighting just south of Cambridge that was different, I saw a grouse just south of town. I have been in this area for just short of 10 years and have never seen one this close to town. It would be nice to have a few around, then you would have something to hunt after you bag your 2 roosters for the day.

yes i am sure the mild winter helped more birds make it through, but the main reason your eeing more birds is simply the time of year. just as more bucks are seen during the rut, more pheasants will be seen during the spring mating season.

Deffinatly the mild winter has helped with carry over birds, if we can get some dry weather for a spell it should be a banner year for hunting again this season.

I have noticed the same thing with the pheasants around Hugo. Seeing a lot of roosters and hens.

Was doing some turkey hunting in SD last week and also some picture taking and yes the pheasants that are around is unbelievable!!
