I used to work at Mach 1 for years so, the probelm with AM that your are having is the grounding on the antena. check the mounting on the fender for rust, you also could have a bad antena seen that before. Some cars have a adapter on the antena just in side the side wall behind the glove box, that can come loose or rust also. With out looking at it and going through some things look for what I listed above.

Jeff-

Its a simple job. That little triangle piece up by your mirror needs to pop off first I believe. It just snaps on and off so pry it with a screwdriver. I think there is a screw behind that and there is also a screw in the armrest, and maybe one underneath your door lock & window switches. That little pod that holds the rocker switches pops off as well. After that, the panel slides up like mentioned and then you can maneuver it around the door handle and you should be good to go. The crazy thing about GM stuff is everything just snaps together, with a screw here and there. The entire dash panel just snaps on as well as most of the interior plastic.

A few years back, I got crazy while putting a new stereo and speakers in and ripped the entire inside of my truck out. That includes the seats (front & back) and all the plastic. I then put a sound deadening material on all the metal surfaces. I believe it was called Brown Bread which is similar to Dynamat. What a job but it really made the inside of my cab quiet.

Thank you for the info. I am going to tear into this thing this weekend. I am thinking a wire came loose in there someplace because neither of the speakers in that door are working.
