art
I've never done it but understand it can be fun fishing when the white bass are running. When do they really get going on the Mississippi River below St. Anthony falls to the Ford danggit. Or should I head down below the lock 1? What is the best method to catch them. I'd be fishing from shore, not keeping any, just having some fun, fun, fun. Thanks. I'll let you know how I do.
kslipsinker
A jig and minnow works. Fish like you were fishing for crappies. Light jigs.
FL SNIPER
When they are going on the St. Croix...we do well casting raps...like shad raps or rattling raps. They're fun to catch...and you can get a bunch if they're biting. A lot of times we'll cast from shore and they'll hit right before you pull your lure out of the water...if you see them following...you can do a figure 8 and they'll hit it. ole matty
small spinners or rooster tail or small crankbaits will do. they sometime r attract to flashy and noisy lures..
mplspug
I've caught some in pool two, but none by the dam. They are always accidental catches and usually on small inline spinners. I have never gotten into a big school of them though. I'll catch a couple and that will be it. If I recall they put up a decent fight and I am amazed at how razor thin they are. Maashkinoozhe
I had some success in Pool 2 out of Hidden Falls with silver/white spinnerbaits. Caught a bunch of 2 lbers and those guys hit hard, harder than smallies! If you keep fishing the river, sooner or later you'll hit a school of 'em - just put your line in the water and hang on!!Dave D.
