Trolling Motor Help

broncosguy711

Question

Looking to pick up a Bow mount trolling motor for my 19 foot boat. Any advice and opinions on where I can get one at a decent price would be great. I know I missed the boat show which would have been great.

Also the part where My 90 horse attaches to the boat is starting to get a gap a little bit. How can I tighten that up? I do not want to be going along then all of a sudden my motor drops off the back.

Thanks-

Broncs

Most of the trolling motors (not the lines that WalMart sells) are price protected so there isn't usually a dramatic difference in prices of boxed new units.

Check out any of the authorized service centers in the cities for reconditioned motors.

Not sure what you mean here. The motor is bolted to the transom. I'm guessing you have a gap between the top of the transom and the part of the motor bracket that hangs on the transom. That gap is normal and to me it means whoever mounted the motor took the time to do it right by lining up the cavitation plate to the bottom of the hull instead of just hanging the motor.

I'm wondering if you use a transom saver when trailering. If not, perhaps the stearn of your boat is beginning to show signs of stress from the weight of the motor?

I am guessing that by transom saver you mean the pole to keep the motor from bouncing? yes that is correct.

I gues what I mean is there is a gap between the part where teh motor attaches to the boat and the part the acts like a cover for ove rthe abtteries and such. the screws seem to be backing out.
