jltimm
I recently purchased a 1660 Pro V and was wondering if anyone out there knows how accurate the gas gauge is (does it get the proper reading when the boat is tilted back)?
0 MWellner
You have to state what outboard you own because every different brand is rigged with different guages. Id say those electronic Yamaha guages are good.
0 logon648
from what i have found the boat has to be level to get a good reading. other wise it will show full a lot longer then it should
0 Valv
Tank is layed lenght wise, any sending unit will not read correctly if boat is tilted back, most of the gas will be in back.Sending unit is just a floater on a stick, usually in center or back of tank. You should have boat floating or level to read correctly.------------------Val Vignatiwww.kvesurplus.com[email protected]
0 PRO-V
I have the same rig with a Yamaha and the gauge has never worked worth a darn regardless of position.

0 Sgt. Rock
I've got a 1999 Lund spec book and it shows the 1600 ProV as a 21 gal tank with a reserve feature. Doesn't explain what the reserve is.
0 Hugo
I believe the reserve is just another pick up tube that sits lower in the tank. By moving the switch to reserve you will then draw the remaining gas from the lower tube. Not sure how much is remaining when you switch..haven't had to use it yet on my 1775.Dave[This message has been edited by Hugo (edited 07-14-2004).]
