Depth Finder/GPS question?

Big Cat Dad

Question

I am a first time boat owner and I'm getting a River Pro 176 HiPro. I know this is a personal preference question but I was just wondering if some people could give me a little feedback on pro's/con's of certain models. I am looking at wanting a depth finder/gps for around $700. These are current models I am looking at: Lowrance LMS 339c, Lowrance 332c, Eagle Fish Elite 642c, Humminbird 787C2. Any information will be very helpful.

I also give my vote for the Lowrance graphs and GPS.

Great units and easy to operate.

If you have the mounting room and the price is right, I would go with seperate GPS and Sonar units! Much handier and also easier to read that way!

Thanks for the info. I think I'll probably go with the Lowrance but I was just wondering if anyone has a humminbird with the 3D view on the graph. It looks pretty handy and seems to give you a really good view. Thanks again.

Well I think the 339 is virtually the same outfit as the 334 but just a little more powerful. 4,000 W peak to peak power vs. 2,400 W. I could be wrong though.

Marine_man, are you originally from Lisbon? One of my good college buddies graduated high school from Lisbon. Thanks for the info.

Hey guys, be careful about buying the GPS units with built-in antennas. They should work very well in open boats, but could have potential problems when placed in behind windshields with the suntop or bimini top on your rig. They should be excellent bow units though. Just something to think about.
