opsirc
OK guys, was thinking about this reading all the different posts about the LC reels. Seem that the Diawa sealine is the way to go. However I can not afford to spend 100 bucks apiece for 2-3 of them, just not in the budget. So the thought occured to me, why not tie different colored bobber stops on the line at different lenghts. Say one at 50, one at 100 and a third at say 150 feet. Should be able to tighen them dowm pretty good to keep them in place. Alot cheaper than reels. eyehead
That would work. There are also line counters that connect right on to your rod for like $15. Not sure if there any good though. Anyone tried these???

fishkab
Line Counters,,, I have used the line counters that attach to the rod made by Shakespere..... They have been accurate and have held up pretty well. Got them a couple of years ago, $12 to $15... Easy to use and the price is right. Good Luck Fishkab
End of the Line
Or just go out to the street with a tape measure. Measure the line that comes out of the reel with one pass of the level wind. Add the passes up! Cheapest line counter there is.

JohnMickish
I have a Rapala line counter and wish I didn't. I would probably work well with mono but it is not suited to work with smaller superbraids (14lb).
rubber duck
Take a magic marker and mark your line at 50, 75, 100, 150 feet. Use two or three colors, only mark about two feet of your line at a time.
matthothand
I sometimes count the number of "passes" the line makes across the spool and that is a method that will work with any casting/trolling reel and you don't have to buy markers or anything!
