I never suggested that I'm a saint and I agree he was a great ballplayer. I just wouldn't categorize someone accused of beating his wife and groping a woman as a great role model.

How about someone who helped Raise $5,000,000 to save childrens lives.?

I'll never forget the first or second Kirby Puckett Celebrity 8-Ball Invitational I was at one of first beneficiaries of the heart surgery that Kirby helped fund was a girl that had the surgery when she was six years old and is now a healthy teenager. I'll never forget when she took the microphone and said, "Kirby thank you so much for saving my life" grin.gif

Now now kids settle down. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think that the good that he did out weighed any bad accusations that were made against him. He was just a regular Joe that played a mean game of baseball. Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

Oh, IMO Kirby has done more for kids and role modeling in ten minutes of his life than your entire pathetic ancestry.

A bit harsh, don't you think? I don't see anything in his post that disrespected Kirby.

I've heard enough stories to realize he was a "good" guy, probably even a "great" guy, but I just have a hard time respecting anyone who hit their wife, I don't care what the situation was....you just walk away.

Anyways, definately a tragedy. I feel bad for his loved ones. Hopefully he can be an example to others that it is important to take care of your body. I'm sure a lot of us could mix in a salad, myself included.

I certainly did not intend to start a war of words. However, I agree that Kirby did great things for the community and I agree that he was one of the best ballplayers of all time, but that does not provide him a blank check to do the things he did.

In essence, what is being said, is that a person can right their wrongs by simply writing a check; that a man or womans character is determined by their level of popularity.

I just don't believe in that philosophy. I never claimed to be an absolute saint! But it's not me we're talking about! And what my "pathetic ancestry" has to do with anything, I don't understand.

I respect the dead. I agree Puck was a great player. I agree he was a great ambassador for the game. I agree his life was way too short. But in the same token, I don't want my son to grow up looking up to him as a role model for how to live his life. I think the things that he was accused of doing to women are despicable and no amount of money or fame excuses him for what he did.

Take a look at your own kids, mothers, sisters and nieces and ask yourself if you would still feel the same if they were the victim. Whether you can admit it publicly or not, I bet I know the answer. confused.gif

Crestliner-fever, Too bad you didn't make the trip. We did have a blast chasing flags and pulling up northerns on light tackle. Rex had mentiond that someone else may be joining us. We had plenty of room for another. Needless to say there will be a Part 2 to this trip sometime this summer or the next. The entire crew was a riot to be around. If you want I can email some pics to ya. Let me know, SB. [email protected]

Usually, when I hear the word "accused" I don't instantly think they are guilty. Kirby was acquitted on all charges of groping, and as for wife beating, that is hearsay....she didn't take it to trial, just divorced him on the accusation.

Did he, or didn't he??? We will never know. All I know is seeing smiles on the faces of children and the elderly (my 80 year old grandparents for one, loved him)

Priceless

    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
    • Chef boyardee pizza from the box!
