2 lbs test

this is my first year with 2lb test and what blast i landed a 9lb northern with it my ? is i think the line is more suceptibe to strech and nicks does anyone have any tips

I use 2 lbs Vainish all winter long and have had really good success. You just need to change it more often and if you catch a big fish cut about 5 feet off.

Max22- Yes 2 lb line is more prone to stretching and nicks and such... As stated , change your line often. If I feel I may have dammaged my line I will stip off whatever I think had a chance of being dammaged.. Line is cheep.

I know I've caught more fish using the lighter line! Yes, strip off a few feet after a good fish and change often, it's worth it!

Wow a 9lber on 2lb test! How long did you have to fight her? I've got all my panfish rods spooled with 4lb test, but I have a spool of 2lb test and just tie on a leader when the fish seem real finicky.

9 lb northern on 2 lb test.. you seem to have it down pretty good!

I had a bone-headed idea of trying to set some line class records with 2 lb test several year back.. It was a blast targeting carp with it. Talk about long runs and taking line off the spool(shore fishing to top it off). I eventually got a 17# carp which was my largest with the 2 pound test(many smaller).. that same week the 2 lb line class record went up to 28 pounds.

I had to change my line every day when carp fishing. The line got stretched out bad and it was impossible to tie a knot in after a few big fish. Even scraping a live weed can damage 2 lb test.

Line is cheap.. buy it in bulk spools and change it every time you think it might need changed.. because it probably does.

that #9 took 20min i had her up to the hole about five times and each time she took 30 or 40 ft i got lucky and hooked her in the corner if the mouth thanks for the input i will have to cary a extra spool from now on
