eyemaster
has anyone ever crossed into ca from here? Is it quicker than international falls?
Shorelunch
Even at it's busiest (Friday afternoons and evening and coming back on Sunday) it's a walk in the park compared to I'Falls.
Wild Thing
They are both easy this time of year. The Falls/Fort are gettng better, but avoid them like the plague on Fridays from the Ontario opener through Labor Day. Better yet, avoid them at all on the weekends in summer... I crossed going up last wednesday and coming back today (sunday) and there was no line at all. If you go early in the day, say before 8 a.m. or after 8 p.m there's never a problem -- take the route that's the fewest miles for you. Also, there's no fee to cross the bridge in Baudette/Rainy. The Falls/Fort bridge is $6 or $6.50 (I buy a pass so I'm not sure on the exact price for a single crossing) to go north. It's free to come back south. Add another $4 for trailer. eyemaster
Are they more lenient in either location? There is a group of us going up this summer for a fishing trip. We have one guy that has recently gotten a DWI. We have never been checked at I Falls. Wondering about Baudette if it is slower are they more thorough in pulling licenses and checking? Captain B.R.K
I would doubt one is more lenient than the other. Not that I know any better, but typically when you are talking about the law you are talking about consistent measures being taken across the board. The law is stated about those with DWI's trying to get into Canada. Do you want to take a long drive up to the border only to have take that trip all the way back because you knew your buddy had a DWI and wouldn't get in?!?! I know I can find better things to do with my time and I'm sure you could too.
crazyhorse
howdy anyways....i work for a houseboat company out here and last sumer alot of people were turned back for dwi's..so if i were you i wouldnt risk the trip of having to come all this way to morson area and only learn when you get to the border that you have to go allway back home..so i wouldnt advise trying.. be well and FISH ON!!!!! Eastwind
I would always try to cross at Baudette rather than the Falls. The paper company owns the bridge at the Falls so the is a fee, like $6.00 or so, for each vehicle. In the Winter they charged us a fee for the truck and for the trailer with the snowmobiles. The lines at the Falls can be a major slowdown. Last Spring we waited for 30 minutes to get back in to the U.S. on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Think about it, the majority of the traffic was going the opposite direction of us. Regarding the friend with the DWI. I look at it this way, why should I take the chance of getting turned back on my way to a fishing trip in Canada because of someone else's poor judgement in the past. I have a good friend with some past DWI's that I will not bring to Canada with me until he gets it squared with the Canadians that he is officially welcome to enter their country.
