Minn-Kota Maxxum cable broke

Hi all!

I just returned from my week of fishing Lake Vermilion and on the second to last day, I broke the drive cable on my trolling motor. Does anybody know if these are hard to replace? I'm going to e-mail Minn-Kota but I thought maybe someone else has had this happen to them.

the hard part of the fix is running the wire from the pedal to the head of the trolling motor. the easy way is to buy the all the wiring and cable and replace the whole sheath section. to replace just the cable you will only need some screw drivers and a pliers.

Hey all,

Just thought I would let everybody know that I fixed the cable on my trolling motor. I replaced both of them because the total cost was only about $30,including shipping, from Minn-Kota for both cables. The hardest part was fishing the cables through the sheath, but it really wasn't that bad. (it does come with directions and a diagram) I would say it took me about 45 minutes from start to finish.

I have replaced these cables before by myself, and had it done by a repair shop.

I only have them do it now.

Replacing the parts or running the interior cable through the sheath isn't that tough.

On my 565t, though, getting the cables nice and tight so the steering doesn't have any flop or wiggle is tough. So tough I now consider it a p.i.t.a and let the shop do it.

Where did you buy the cables at? Did you get them directly from Minnkota or are they available elsewhere?
