Lakemaster Chip

Question

I know there were a few posts on here about copying a LakeMaster Chip for Lowrance Units. I tried to do a search on it but didn't have any luck. Does anyone know what the subject was of that post?

I made a copy onto a SD card and tried it out in an I-finder. I couldn't get that map to show up. The card is formatted the same. Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone know how to get it to work?

Copying software like you described is illegal. You can make a backup copy of the software but the backup copy can only be loaded to the original chip - that's how they protect it against pirates like you.

If your unit power surges and zaps the software on your chip you can load the backup copy to your original chip to restore it. But if you damage or lose your chip your backup copy is worthless.

I don't know if this still happens, but it used to be if you tried to copy Nav chips it would damage the original chip. I know 1 or 2 guys this happened too.

Hope this answers your question.
