I have never fished Ceniako but I heard it is very clear.

Has any on fished there before? Can you share any hints or insights on fishing this lake?

I was at the Courthouse and managed two the last time. One was two feet down and the other three feet down. Green glow/three wax worms.

The time before that I was zilched. Nada.

I am ready for Opener #2. Can hardly wait.

Hi Rick,

Can you give me directions on how to get to the lake?

I am coming out of Chaska. I heard there was a fee to get on the lake. True?

Are you headed to Ceniako?

Any place to start fishing or just stay a little ways away from the crowd?

Thanks,

tweed/jim

35w to cnty 10(old hwy 10) go north past 610, west on egret

that will take you straight to the park.

yes it does cost 5 dollars unless you have a anoka county park permit

if its not to late at night tonight gimme a call, makes it easier to give directions

Not surpising they didn't open the lake before this weekend.

We found 3" to 7" of ice.

We really had to work to get our trout. We had five fishermen and managed 19 Trout. The size was nice and they were great fighters. One of our guys caught a 2 1/2 Brookie. It was a beautiful fish with the white outlining the fins.

The lone Iowan visitor,in our group, laid an egg. 0

Only an obersvation, but seems almost impossible.

Rick or anybody else have reports?

tweed,

Which part of the lake were you guys on? We set up on the west side in the middle and managed only one trout, a piece. They were nice size, though. A young brother-in-law iced a 3+ pound rainbow.

This was our first time on this pond. I tried to look for the DNR's topographical lake map for this pond but it was not provided. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We fished on the oposite side of the fishing pier. So if you walked onto the pier and kept walking to the other side that is where we were. 7'-9'of water. Most of the fish came in at 5' but some were shallower.

Near us it was 20' and one of our group caught a fish at 5' and one at 10'

Two of the fish were caught on small castmasters with bugs on the hooks. The rest were caught on # 8 green moonglows with two or three bugs(waxies)

We saw a guy catch a super crappie. It was a 14" slab.

Dandy trout. Bigger than the Courthouse fish.

I'll try this post again. We fished across from the pier.

If you walked out on the pier and kept walking all the way across to the other side, that's it. 7'-9' of water. Most of the fish came in at 4-5'. We did get two in 20'. One 5' down and one at 20'.

Good Luck,

tweed

2 on castmasters with waxies and the rest on # 8 green moonglows with 2-3 bugs.

I'm going to try tomorrow if my friend will let me borrow his portable, gonna be cold. I'm relatively new to ice-fishing, so what's a castmaster? I've got some #8 moonglow's in different colors. I've been posting under the "metro area lakes" link on this HSOforum and some have been helpful. Good luck.

elarson,

They are like a Swedish Pimple. We use the smallest size. They come in silver, gold, bluish, green. Not sure it matters that much. I think it works more as an attractor. Jiggle 'em up/jiggle 'em down and stop it for a couple of seconds going up and down. Also, try pumping it a foot or so and let it settle back-then hold it for a few seconds.

Last year, at the Courthouse, it was our main choice.

Don't forget to hang bugs on the hooks.

This season, for whatever reason, the green moonglow has produced 95% of the fish. Keep jiggling with a pause every 10 seconds or so. That is when they will take it.

If you start at 5' jiggle up to 1'or 2' and back down.

Good Fishing and post your results.

Thank you. I guess I have some castmasters then. Today I tried with an assortment of moonglows with waxies, with berkleys trout bait and had no luck. Thanks to the guy who let me use his auger, I grabbed the wrong one. I was in ten feet; going to dry deeper water by the dock this Saturday. Thanks again.

Hey Rick,

Was that on opener or since then? I haven't been down to the Courthouse and haven't heard anything from there. I plan on giving it a try when it warms a little.

We did pretty good when Ceniako opened.(see post)

Were you one of the three houses next to the fishing pier?

We were directly across the pond from there. They bit good early and then slowed down.

I would like to give that lake another shot before season ends. They were nice fish.

Maybe we can get together at one of the ponds next week.

Did you ever get a stocking report on Ceniako? I am wondering if any of those big browns found their way up there.

Your directions were great. Thanks.

Rick,

I have to play it by ear, too. Looks like a cold front rolling in, again, next weekend. Can't catch any here looking at this screen. I have the itch to go, if I can.

Maybe we can come up with a plan later in the week.

Later,

tweed

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
