Nelson Reservoir

Would like to know if anybody has been fishing Nelson. Is the water level down there to. Would like to get into the Perch like we used to do there. CAJ

Last time I was there cattle were grazing on my favotite walleye hole. How's THAT for low water!!!

UFATZ That is what I was afraid of. Couple of us here were going to go there next week and tryit, but I think I will have to head to the River by Williston ND to try the Confluance again. Some are having pretty good luck there. There just isn't to many good lakes up in the NE corner of this state. CAJ

Actually Nelson Reservoir is at full pool. Nelson Reservoir has not been at this level in years. It would be great fishing right now.

Thanks for the info. I havn't fished there for a while, and I just might have to try it again, if it is full. That used to be one of the best palces in this end of the state to fish. CAJ

Has anyone tried the fishing out here and how has it been?

A trip to Nelson Reservoir in Late December this winter was semi-successfull. We were able to milk about 30 Yellow Perch between .5 and.7 pounds.

Those are some ok perch. What were you using that triggered them?

Well that is just GREAT news. Always enjoyed spending a few days there Never caught a whole lot---enough for a feed maybe, not counting all the released fish. I would imagine she's been a little raw along the highline this winter eh? LOL

10 years ago we used to fish Nelson a lot, and would meet freinds from the Beborgie area to get the big Perch there. Was a lot of fun there. It has been the warmest winter on record here in the NEast corner of Montana. No snow and warm. CAJ

We were doing alright on a variety of smaller jigs (swedish pimple, Castmaster, etc.), tipped with a minnow head or grub.

Have you tried a Haleys for those perch?

Big Sky-How deep the fish been comming from?. Is it a shallow water bite?

I believe we were at 35 to 40 feet of water. Foot to a couple feet off the bottom. Using good electronics.

Thats the key right there.. good eletronics!!! You have to be carefull when pulling them out of those depths too...

Perch.. my fave fish for the table!!! dang they taste good!
