When using the transducer does everyone hang it down to the bottom of the ice in the hole? and why?

If your just below the ice your going to have a cleaner and stronger signal.

I've noticed there is some interference if I don't lower it down below the ice.

Depending how thick of ice, the signal will be bouncing off the ice, if the ducer is not below the ice.

Would that lead to a higher gain usage?
