Transducer position ?

I have a Lowrance X91 on a Lund 1700 Fisherman. The transducer is mounted about 18 inches right of center keel on the transom and is angled slightly forward. At about half throttle I loose the bottom on the screen. At full throttle I get a small rooster tail of water coming from the transducer. I have adjusted the trasducer as the Lowrance owners manual describes. Any suggestions?

The way I typically mount lowrance transducers is to put the line that runs along the transducer (that sort of divides the transducer in half top to bottom) lined up with the bottom of the hull.. that way your transudcer is always in the water...

You may see spray from the transducer this way, but it should work...

With a V-hull 18" off of center should be plenty, in fact if you go too far the ducer will raise out of the water when on plan but you said its shooting a tail so you should be fine. Check that you don't have any ribs or rivets in fount of the ducer.

I think in your case, tipping the front of the ducer in/down is the problem by creating and air pocket. Use a straight edge along the hull and line the ducer parallel with but a 1/4" below that straight edge. If you have to tip it at all you would tip the back of the ducer down a frog hair while keeping the front of the ducer just below the hull.
