Is there zoom on the marcum lx3 and is it better than a FL8 if yyou do think its better tell me how Thanks a bunch

The FL8 does not have zoom and the LX-3 has zoom. Zoom is an incredible feature that can be addicting for the user. It gives you an added advantage in the target area and break's the target identification down from 2.15" to 1". You get great detail in the MarCum's zoom window that helps you clearly to adjust presentations to the mood of the fish. Once you use zoom your hooked.

The LX-3 and LX-5 have adjustable zooms that will go anywhere in the water column. The FL-8 has none but the 18 has a bottom only zoom. If your looking for a zoom capable unit I recomend the LX-3. Much better unit for the money than a 18 in my opinion.

I bought an LX-3 in November. I used the flasher for all of five minutes in the regular mode before I started experimenting with the zoom. Now I keep it in the zoom mode at all times. It is a phenomenal feature. I had no idea prior to purchasing the unit how helpful it really is.

Or you could consider cabelas VXR made by marcum, they are selling for $270 with battery gauge and soft case. I was in rogers on sunday and they had some in the bargain cave starting at $220 and up.

Once you use the zoom, you will always wanna use it, unless you are in really shallow water. Had my LX3 for a couple years now, great unit. Don't seem to have as many interference issues with the Marcum either. I used a FL-8 for many years, but it doesn't compare, the FL-18 comes close but I would still recommend the Marcum over the Vex.

I'll admit, I'm a zoom addict as well. Once ya have it, ya won't go without. The adjustable zoom was the feature that made my decision.
