Portable Canvas Cleaning

Chef

Question

My two Portables were "sprayed" by my neighbors Cat this summer down in my Barn. Needless to say, they reek even after I scrubbed them with a combination of Hot Water, Mr. Clean and Baking Soda, left them open to dry and sprayed them with Lysol.

I just spent the weekend in one and the smell was awful--especially with heat inside.

Suggestions?

Try vinigar and water before trying anything exspensive. You could also try making a paste with baking soda and a little water and then use a stiff scrub brush to scrub the area, make sure you clean both sides (please DO NOT MIX THE VINIGAR ABD THE BAKING SODA!!!!!). It may take 5 or 6 cleanings to get it all out.

Good luck

I'd suggest whatever is used for skunks on dogs. I use a ten to one water to bleach, test on a small fabric spot first to make sure it doesn't do any damage. Search fm for skunk remedies.

I've used the pet stain and odor removers available at most pet stores and I'm sure you can find it at wally world also. Anyways, we had a big problem with one of our dogs a few years back and this stuff worked great on our carpet. You can try a solution of vinigar and baking soda but it sounds like it might take more than that.

Here is a home made recipe that I used when my GSP went trough her skunk phase. One bottle hydrogen peroxide, one box of armen hammer baking soda, one gallon of water and a couple of squirts of hand soap. I put it on the dog and let it set for a few minutes and then rinsed. It was amazing all odor gone and she was aloud back in the house with no hint of sent. I don’t know if this will work for you but it’s cheap to try any way.
