leechlake
Time for a new Lowrance depth finder on my console. I have a X-87 on the bow and one on the console, the console one went on the fritz last summer and I want to get a color lowrance. Let me know your experiences with them, pro's and con's, thanks. Any suggestions on models or new models. I have a seperate Lowrance global map so no need to have dual gps/sonar.
Wildlineman
I'm looking very closely at the Lowrance X102c. I've been dealing with low power b/w graphs too long and now I'm also going to move up to color. I went to Cabelas in Rogers and compared some of the other brands side x side and I really liked what I saw in the X102c. I also run a seperate GPS.I think I'm going to try to wheel and deal and pick one up at the sportsmans show or the MN Muskie Expo.Good Luck!! gspman
The Lowrance color finders are simply awesome. Get one. You'll love it.
Ralph Wiggum
I picked up the x67c for icefishing this year and I really like the color. I plan on running it in my canoe this summer. I think it'll be nice on the bow of my future boat someday!
PerchJerker
I have an x-102c and also a 332c. Really nice units. If you liked your x-87 you'll love an x-102c.
caster
I run the same combo you are looking at. I bought the 102c last year because I have a handheld GPS with mapping. I am really happy with the 102c unit, but I did see something yesterday at Thorne Bros. that you may want to check in to.A new feature this year on the Lowrance units is the ability to mark fish or structure with the GPS/Sonar units. When you spot something on the graph, you can use the cursor to find the GPS coordinate of that object. One of the guys was demonstrating this and some of the other guys there were unaware of this feature. Depending on your fishing style, I can see where this would be very convenient. I find it hard to mark the exact spot on the handheld. This feature gives you the objects coordinates, not the boats coordinates. Just something to consider. Murdock
Is there much of a difference between the x100c and the x102c other than discounted price? I am hoping to pick up a slightly used or discontinued x100c so if anyone has one sitting around, toss me a pm.
Wildlineman
I did a side by side comparison of the X102c & X100c and found a few differances. Pixel count is greater on the X102c giving greater picture detail plus it's easier to view the graph at an angle (from the side). To be honest I was really sold on the X102c from what I saw. jigginjim
Since I work at Gander I can tell you. If you buy a color locator you will wonder why you don't do it sooner? I have an X-19 in my boat, with the gps I am able to record bottom areas if points and other stucture. I have created my own maps of transition areas. If your thinking of a unit that may have GPS, Lowrance is coming out with a new LMS-334 with a built in antenna. Plus you will also hard bottom areas so much faster, as well as weeds-lines. The X102 is a super locator if thats all your needs are? I have told customers," if you can, get the best unit can can afford. You won't be disapointed." Murdock
Jim, Good to hear from you again. I'll have to stop down at Gander to shoot the breeze some time soon. Do you know if Gander has any x100c units on clearance or if the x102c is or will be on sale shortly? Due to cost, I may have to look at the x100c for now. Please let us know. Ralph Wiggum
Jim (or anyone else),How do you adjust the colorline on a Lowrance to distinguish hard from soft bottoms. I'm trying to figure out how to tell the differnce, but I'm new to this.
