?Gander Mountain?

I got some gift certifigates to Gander Mountain, and I think I want to buy a new Spinning combo. I have $70 to spend. I want a 6' 6" medium action rod, I want it to be kind of stiff(but still strong), because i will probably be using stren original mono which is pretty stretchy. Obviusly i will want a medium action reel with it. Any suggestions? How about their Guide Series combos?

The Gander Tournament series is pretty good. I have two of them and I like the feel. I would suggest not going lower than the Tournament series, but others may disagree. Those rods will run around $75ish. Then you can get a Guide Series reel for around $20. It doesn't come with a spare spool, but it is a decent reel. That puts you around $100.

I would suggest waiting till spring to see if any sales pop up when they try to get rid of their old stock. They often will have $10 off rods.

actually i dont think i will because it looks too far away, and i dont think my mom would drive me there.

I really like the Rapala 6-6.5ft IM6's. I use a 7ft IM6 for speed trolling on Lake Pepin. You can usually find the rods for around $20 at Gander.

I'm an Abu guy when it comes to open face. Although Gander does have a pretty nice selection of their own reels.

I've been really happy with the guide series poles, though I can't reccomned the perfect one to you, I have to feel each pole myself to figure out what I really like, I shop at the lakeville store all the time, don't be afraid to ask them, I'm sure they can give you more info.
