Connecting Marcum to 12V deep cycle battery

Am waiting for L&M here to get more 7amp batteries for the Marcum in. In the mean time can I hook it to a deep cycle marine battery or is this too much for it?

Agree with BDR. My LX5 manual says any 12V power source.
