Deitz Dittrich
[Note from admin: You can see some of JB Lures and puchase them at the Outdoor Pro Store - Click Here.] Recently JB Lures became a sponsor of our wonderful FishingMinnesota family. I knew they made one of my personal favorite lures called the Gem-N-Eye, a great lure for a dead stick or bobber rod, as well as jigging; however, that was about all I knew about them. I e-mailed for a catalog and a few lures so that I might know their product line better. It turns out they are out of Winthrop, Minnesota. I love home-grown companies, especially ones that offer a lot of quality products. I took a few pictures of just a sample of the products they offer... Below is the ever popular Gem-N-Eye (bottom 2 lures) and the Jig Eye. As I stated earlier I have always loved the Gem-N-Eye, but the new lure from last year, the Jig Eye really caught my eye--I will definitely be giving those a work out this winter. The added glow in the dark treble hook can only mean more hook ups under the ice. JB lures also packages the ever-popular Angle-Eye spoon, pictured below with the Pro-Varmit. The Varmit actually comes in three styles: the Pro-Varmit has a propeller attractor, the Regular Varmit, and then the Rattling Varmit. I predict the Rattling Varmit to be one of the top sellers this year, its already become one of my favorite. This lure has a glass rattle chamber spun-molded directly into the lure. This lure will produce a rattle unlike no other lure. All have a glow in the dark paintjob as well! JB Lures manufactures plenty of lures to help you put pan fish on the ice as well. Pictured clockwise starting in the upper left hand corner: JB Ant, Lil Bugger, Lunar Grub, Rain-Glo, Horizontal Teardrop, Big Max, and Glitter Glows. These are just a small sample of the incredible line of lures JB Lures offers. Check them out in stores near you and order a catalog for yourself. You will be glad you did. Borch
Now I see I'm missing some great stuff! Those rattlin varmits, pro varmits and jigging Gem n Eyes are lures that I'll need to add to my jigging spoon arsonal.
ChuckN
Wow, that Pro-Varmit looks killer! I'm going to have to find me one of those... I've been using the Rattling Varmits for a long time. They are excellent lures on aggressive fish. My favorite is the one in the lower left of Deitz's picture....glow/black/purpleish/pink. The perch color is hot too, but never tried the glow green....yet. Great pics Deitz.
fisherdog19
Deitz, hows it going? I've had the pro varmits for a year or two now and they work great on late season perch. The rattlers are one of my staple spoons along with the angel eyes. The Gem n eye's have caught me many crappies on URL as well. I'll have to try the Gem n Eye spoons, they must work as well. Deitz Dittrich
Sup Dog!.. things are going well... I think the new Jig Eye may even out produce the Gem-n-eye... The glow treble hook will be the key and will give the lure a totally different action. I cant wait to give them a try!Deitz
CrappieJohn
I was able to nab some nice crappies early Thursday morning using a glo red jig eye tipped with a waxie. The fish that hit this bait really nailed it. I had on a 1/16 ounce unit. When the day brightened up, the bite went to smaller offerings, but it sure was nice to have that fast start. This crappie really nailed the Jigging Eye. Often times I will start with the mosst aggressive baits and begin weeding thru everything when they fail to draw hits. Regadless, I carry at least two rods rigged with jigging spoons at all times and one of the spoons is the Jigging Eye. Another use for theses larger spoons is to use them purely as attractors. I will often deadstick a waxie or two on a small jig and actively work the larger, more visible jig next to it. When fish come in to investigate the moving bait they will spot the deadstick bait and change their motivations to it. The Jigging Eye is a straight forward, large profiled machine. They are geared to take larger fish and do that well. They are designed to attract fish and do that well also. These are not just a panfish lure, but are tools developed to get walleyes working, but have since found a niche in the world of the panfish. CNY Tim
[Note from admin: You can see some of Pink and White Angel Eye Jrs in 6 packs and also puchase them at the Outdoor Pro Store - Click Here.] Pink and White Angel Eye Jr. packed with maggots did the trick yesterday morning on a nice eater walleye for me our problem was we didn't get set up early... and caught the end of the bite. Were fishing in 22' and I was jigging the AE Jr. 6' off the bottom when at about 3 ft. off I saw a mark on the LX-5, hello Mr. Walleye! He ran up quick stopped and I kept flipping the spoon while slow taking up the line and when he got to 9' slammed the Angel Eye.

On a side note, I am just getting addicted to those rattling varmits. Expecially in a little stained water.
