Marcum LX-2

The LX-2 is one heck of a package for a base line unit. Who would have thought a base unit could have all the loaded features this one has for only $319. Amazing 5' or 10' bottom zoom standard, 1,000 watts of power, I.R., new display color package, soft pack, battery and charger for only $20 more than the VXR and GSX's, incredible. This unit was built to compete with the big boys with savings to boot.

The lx2 is great unit, but if it were me and money allowed it, I'd get the lx3 and get the conversion for 49 bucks. You'd have the better unit in no time and the benefits will be obvious. You'd still be fifty bucks under the wire for the lx3-tc too.

I bought the lx-3 from Dick's in richfield last night because everyone around here was sold out of tc's then i went to gander and found a tc for 399 so i got that and am going to take my unopened lx3 back to Dick's today. They had 12 of them last night when i got my LX-3 Dick's in Richfield.

the following is a post of the difference between a lx-3 and an lx-3 upgraded, and lx3-tc. it was by SCHWEADY.

There are 3 different LX-3 configurations out there on the ice. Don't be confused:

Off-the-shelf LX-3: yellow-orange-red. The orange is created by blending the yellow and red. 6 levels of interference rejection. Red panel lights indicate zoom and/or interference rejection option(s) chosen. Dial that says "LX-3." Grey case that says "LX-3." (Current value: ~$275-300.)

LX-3 upgraded to True Color (tc): yellow-green-red. All three colors created with separate LED's. Incredibly bright, sharp signal return lines. 6 levels of interference rejection. Red panel lights indicate zoom and/or interference rejection option(s) chosen. Dial that says "LX-3." Grey case that says "LX-3." (Current value: price of the above + $49.)

Off-the-shelf LX-3tc: yellow-green-red. All three colors created with seperate LED's. Incredibly bright, sharp signal return lines. 12 levels of interference rejection. Dial that says "LX-3tc." Grey case that says "LX-3." (Current value: worth more than the upgraded version above only if you value 6 more levels of signal interference rejection, or if the red ZM and/or IR indicator lights bother you.)

All other functions -- output power, depth ranges, transmit frequency, current draw, operating voltage, transducer cone angle, target separation, zoom options, panel button and knob operations -- are identical on all three -3's.

Very cool, thanks for the input, good thing I was too busy working on the ice shack last night to run and get the LX-2. I was originally looking for last years LX-3, but they were all sold out everywhere I went around here and the LX-3tc was abit out of the budget right now. I'll be picking one up at lunch today grin.gif

Happy to be of help. Didn't get out fishing one night, so I downloaded the manuals for the LX-3 and LX-3tc and looked for differences. Really happy with my upgraded unit. Gonna stare at it again tonight. C'MON RED! smirk.gif
