Strike-Lite any opinions?

I decided to buy my first power auger this year. After doing some checking on this forum and talking to people at the ice fishing show, I decided on the strike-lite. I have used it twice and it is great. Very light weight and quick cutting. I would be interested in other opinions from people who have used the strike-lite.

Where is Hanson? I thought I read that he was going to be checking them out last weekend and hoped to post a good review. Maybe the fishing was too good for him to go shopping? cool.gif

Well I looked and looked and decided NOT to buy the 4 stroke. I emailed, called and PM'ed several people on the issue and they all pretty much said the same thing.

This is just my opinion and why I made my decision.

I was concerned about the oil leaking out of the crank case. If the auger happens to roll to the cylinder side you WILL lose oil out of the crank case. How much???

I was mainly looking for an auger to be light weight portable and something that I did not have to be extra careful with. I take exceptional care of my things but I need something that I can put on top of the Pro and drill 30 or 40 wholes while the other guy stays and clean the wholes to find the fish.

Like I said that is why I decided not to go with it.

I picked up the 4 Stroke auger and have used it twice. Drilled alot of holes and I am very happy with it. It is very Light and cuts fast enough. I had to drill a few extra holes for the heck of it. It is very quiet too. I also noticed that it hasn't taken any gas yet. I was told that you should be able to drill almost twice the amount of holes as a regular auger per tank of gas. You don't have to lay it perfectly the way it says "This End Up" either. It can also be that way or lay it flat with the two round tabs down. It still wont spill oil on either of those ways. I bought one, and am very appy with it. It starts very easily, they use synthetic oil. It draws it self right down thru the ice, it may not be quite as fast as the 224 but it fast enough for 95% of fisherman. The only drawback I see is oil leaking out of the crankcase, so I welded up a simple rack, so it can't slide or flop around in the back of my truck. Ron Lamar
