The last two cans I had they where on top of my file cabinet in the den. It's at room temp. The waxies don't seem to mind it there so I thought they would be ok too.

There is your probelm big shooter! Waxies like warmer temps.. I try and keep waxies near a cool wall but at a confortable temp. Eurolarve go in the warmest place I can find in the Fridge.. Usually in with the veggies.. LOL I can usually keep Euro alive for a couple of weeks.

Well said, Deitz. Vados Bait is a great source. They have a great HSOforum. They send a little instructional sheet on how to care for the critters.

I order all by winter cooties from them. Great product, great service.

You'll get a bunch of different answers, maybe. But some people will bent their barb down slightly on their hook so the waxie or maggie doesn't explode and rip when you put the hook through them. I've had my best luck hooking waxies and maggies through the head, but when the bite is off, I'll hook them mid way to give the jig a little more action. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching, huh?

I usually hook a couple through the head and then slide one over the tip off the hook. I left a container in my pocket all summer and when I opened it it was filled with all these little black flys. they were all dead of course.

Hey Joe, nothing was moving yesterday. A few perch moved thru at around 4:00 but other than that nada. Had the whole lake to myself for most of the day, then two guys showed up where we started out at. I'm not done there yet....

when you store them in the fridge you have to put them in a zip lock baggie roll, roll all the air out, zip shut, them put them into another zip lock and agian roll all the air out and zip it. I but a thousand every year and they last until the ice is gone. I get my larvae bulk and I pay $6/1000. Our group ordered 65,000 this year. I will try and post the address later when i get it.

I buy mine from Vados Bait. I'll buy 1,000 and they'll last me for a while. I've also been using the new Bait Pucks from Strikemaster, they work very well. The Bait Puck 2 is a larger version and it's great for storing the bulk maggies in the refrigerator. Then I'll use the smaller, regular size Bait Pucks for when I head out on the lake. I also leave a couple of the regular size Bait Pucks loaded with maggots in the fridge as well, this way I can just grab them and go.

So far, the Bait Pucks get an "A+" for me!! And Vados has always recieved an "A+", this year is no different smile.gif
