Ice rod storage

sparetime

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find a good way to transport ice rods to and from the lake and around the lake while fishig. I checked at Cabelas and they only had storage for 2 or maybe three rods. Arrow cases seem to only fit 2 or so. Any suggestions? I like to take 4 or five wth, and they get so tangled in a bucket, plus they break easier in there also.

They have a rod case/gear case that is called the Revolution... For protection of and to carry your rods and gear, it is the best I have found so far.

You can fit four rod and reel combos into the slide in compartments easily, where if you want, 8 rod/reels can fit by breaking down the handles on the reels. In the middle section of the Revolution, there is a large storage compartment that will easily fit your gear. Oh, it also has backpack straps for easy carrying... Very well worth the money!!!

I just wanted to throw you another storage package to look at.Try a look at the storage bags from JR Tackle.I have one and really like it.It has four pouches for one individual rod per pouch. In the center is enough room for a fold up chair, or about a six pack of you favorite beverage. It has a plastic bottom for standing upright and a loop at the top for hanging and a shoulder strap too.I have seen them from $20-$25 bucks. Just my two cents.

I have the Revolution and really like it. Its big enough to hold alot of gear, yet compact at the same time.

For all you guys with rod bags, do yourself a favor and pick up some Tackle Pouches by Today's Tackle. You can use the Tackle Pouch as a lure wrap on your rod and you will never have a snagged up hook inside your rod case again.

What is a good case to use with a Trap Pro? I only want to keep my new Sweetheart/Tica and St.Croix rod safe. I would keep my cheaper rods in the Trap cradle under the seat. I currently use a Lakewood case, but it is rather cumbersome for my sled.

If you just want protection for one up to two rods with no space for gear.. check out the rod cases made by St. Croix or a similar design by Ready Rig... A covered tube that has a padded area for your reels. Should be good for the Pro...

But, even when I am fishing out of my Pro, I have no issues with the Revolution.. When pulling the shack by hand, I just strap it on my back or throw it on top of the shack... Fits pretty well behind the seat area too...

I just took one of those plastic storage containers and mounted berclay rod holders one one side. You have to measure your rod handles to make sure that they fit between the top and bottom of the holder. On the other side of the container I mounted sliding clips(for brooms and mops). These will hold the tipups and Ice scoops. Everything is mounted vetical with no tangles. Plus you can load the center of the container with the loose stuff.
