We would always ice fish through the spearing hole. I wish I had the ice saw that the old

man had. 2 kid powered wooden handel on on end, saw blade on the other. With the fish

house pulled out with the tractor.

I'm really not that old yet (29) but I do remember a few things that have already changed. One is portables, we used to fish out of the backseat of the car, that was considered our portable. Cane poles were the staple for evening crappies off the dock. And another is the dare-devil, does anyone still use them? I remember trolling a red and white dare devil for what seemed like days....I wonder what our kids will be writing about!

Skunked...A friend of mine had one of those ice pick fishing set-ups in the fish house one time, back when you could only fish one line, he got a bite, set the hook on a nice fish, threw that thing behind him and we were both intent on him hand lining the fish in and we were watching the hole.

He gets a really nice walleye right up to the bottom of the ice and it comes off and with a sigh and some cuss words, he sat down on the folding chair he had in the in the corner.

Well, when he had thrown that ice pick stick, it had lodged in the chair opening and when he sat down, he drove that wicked point all the way through the cheek of his a$$ and right into the bone!

He had to reach around and pull it out...good thing old Ray Wyttenback was'nt a wuss! He finished the fishing trip, (Good thing it was only a one day gig!) and went to the doctor when he got home.

He wound up on crutches and missed almost 2 weeks of work. His cheek was so swollen, it looked like he had a basket ball on one side of his pants....those ice pick fishing sticks would be one piece of old equipment that I would never want to have around!
