Bushwacker
After years of looking at them, I am going to buy an underwater camera. I am have it narrowed down to three choices.1)New Marcum 3502)New Aqua Vu Scout3)2 year old Aqua Vu SV- it has not been used, but is the old style camera(not fish-shaped). All three of these are basically the same price. Which one do you think I should get? Thanks for any responses
0 Deitz Dittrich
Bw-In my opinion, I think this is a no brainer! The Scout and 350 are decent units, but do not hold a candle to the SV!... The SV has temp at the camera, LED lights instead of infra-red, and Direction! Done deal in my mind..better lights, direction, and temp! The only reason that aqua vu went with the fish camera was 2 reasons... #1 the camera could be used as a decoy, and #2 some people thought that the camera scared fish away. Totally not true! I have 2 aqua-vus right now, one with the fish camera, one without. I have not noticed any difference with fish being more scared of the non fish camera! No matter what you get, you will be happy! Having an underwater camera is ton of fun.. and the stuff you learn is amazing!
0 BradB
One other thing you might want to look at is which unit has the longest warranty. I agree that the Aqua VU SV is the best unit there, but I would look carefully at how long you had the warranty for.
0 Deitz Dittrich
all aqua-vu units have a 1 year warrenty... if the SV is a used unit then the warrenty would be up.
0 BradB
I got an extra 3 year warranty with mine, but I guess it was a promotional thing. Even if it wasn't, I would have bought it separately. I don't have high confidence in electronic devices that are exposed to water. I may be wrong, but I think it's worth it.
0 Bushwacker
Thanks for the advice. I am will be picking up the SV tonight for our 5 day LOW trip! I really like the directional feature on the SV. My only concern was that technology has changed in two years and that the SV is obsolete.
0 hanson
Bushwacker-Not to disappoint you but Lake of the Woods has a water clarity issue that makes using a camera very difficult up there. Just don't expect to be able to see very far regardless of the camera.

A couple other guys have them that go along every year and you can see about 3-5 feet with the cameras so you can see both lures if you set it up in the middle and rotate.
