Website Performance Issues

Has anyone noticed performance issues with this HSOforum... especially around lunch time?

I typically get the page not found error... I'm thinkig (hoping) that it's a bandwith issue due to the number of people trying to access the site at one time... if it's not that it could by my ISP ... but I hope not!

I agree marine man I think this is a slow HSOforum in general but I wasn't going to say anything because I am new here and wasn't sure if that is the way it always is. It took me over a minute to open this thread. I am on cable with a 5mb download and all the other sites I go to are fine.

So I would have to believe it is the HSOforum or it's connection.

It is much slower then in the past? At home (dile-up) You can forget about using it. But from work still very slow and this is the only site I have this problem with. Not sure if something is wrong or ? But it is not just you.

Could it be the increased lunch traffic? Just a thought, it seems to speed up later in the afternoon. McGurk

This slowness is a recent thing. It didn't used to do this. I would say it started a 2-4 weeks ago or so? It seems to be worse at lunch time than other times. At lunchtimes it gets unusable.

Of the different boards I frequent this one is by far the slowest.

Sounds like FM needs a faster server or more bandwidth as it grows. Hopefully all the ads on this site now are able to fund these improvements.

Growing pains my friends.

We are aware of the issue and hope to get the problem properly addressed soon. One of the catch-alls is that the owner (Rick) is out of town until tonight. He's aware of what is taking place.

We are all getting the same slowness, regardless of connection or provider, so none of you are in the minority. Please bear with us as we deal with these issues. We realize that they can be frustrating, but hope to have everything patched up soon.

As mentioned, growth is part of the issue, which is good. It simply shows that you, I....all of us are doing something very right. Thanks for bearing with us guys.....we really do appreciate it!

I just thought it was slow cuz I was dialing in from Lake Iwamttobethere and the entire town has moved to the ice for the rest of the winter, read about it at open water..

And here I was deleteing temp files,cookies, running scan disk, defrag, checking anti-spy scan.... I don't feel so bad anymore

Thanks for the info Crappie Tom... that's what I thought, as it seems like we go through this every open water opener and every ice fishing season... as you said, a good indication of how good of a site this is... needing to upgrade the server every 6 months or so...

None of that is a waste of time. It is good to do all of that on a regular basis anyway.

LOL,

it's not just upgrading the server this time. Now we need to add another server. The current server is loaded to the seems and then some.

Traffic here is very-very heavy between 10am and 4 pm. After that it's just very heavy.

It's a delicate upgrade and I want to be available for the entire upgrade so we hope to do it next week and get this site back up to where it was a couple weeks ago.
