Awesome marlin fishing in Cabo san lucas

Just got back from a couple days fishing in Cabo; 8 marlin, a wahoo and a mako in 2 days fishing. Just a blast! The bite down there has been red hot for a couple weeks, lots of boats catching marlin, some as many as a dozen fish a day. Normally any day you land one marlin is a good day, so thats just off the charts. Gotta love it...

Nice work Traveler, I would love to get down there this season for some more fishing but our set up is only every other year down there. Guess I'll just have to wait till next year.

Was it striped that you were catching? what was your biggest one?

Where did you guys find the cheap airfare? We were in Puerto Vallarta in november. It was our first time and we loved it there. Went fishing, went to my cousins wedding. And had a few bottle bass while we were there. Did anyone go to the zoo???

Cheffrey; yup, they were all stripers, pretty much all that you're likely to catch there for the rest of the winter. We didn't boat any, just billed em' and released, but all were in the normal 100-150 lb. range, except for one that looked a good bit bigger, maybe 175ish. Hey Maitoi, I mostly fish with Pisces fleet, have for awhile now with good luck. Good luck if you get out in PV, cheap air is a good thing:) Souds like the fishing there right now is pretty average, unless you want to pay a grand to go out to the cow tuna grounds. Thats slowed down, but they were nailing LOTS of big tuna to 300+ lbs over the last couple of months. Prime time charters is the boat to look at for that, but only if you have deep pockets:) 1200 a day...whew! Course if you had 4 guys...I'd love a chance at a fish lke that!

Worry free vacations - Every Monday afternoon they come out with their HOT DEALS and you can't book them until midnight. They usually have a $79 airfare to somewhere each week. The package I wanted was sold out when I checked at 7am so I called my travel agent at AAA and he found one for a total of $420 for 3 days all inclusive including airfare, hotel, food, and adult beverages. That's for one person. For 2 it was about $700.

Sorry, I don't have any other charter recommendations for PV. The only ones I've looked into are the big boys going after the huge tuna. I know there are other charters fishing much closer to PV for a variety of species. Time for a search, let us know how it goes. You too, Arnie! Good luck!

Traveler, You were right. From everyone I talked to the fishing was not that great unless you did the 10 hour trip and I couldn't hook up with anyone to share a boat. Had a great time ATVing in the jungle with my daughter though. I see you got your name on the Mexico fishing HSOforum.

Hey Arnie, souns like the action on the 10 hr boats out of PV has slowed in the past month anyway, so its probably best you saved the cash. I would ove to go there in Aug-sept tho', when the big tuna are really on the bite. The jungle ride sounds like fun, never seen a jungle (yet:) The striper numbers in Cabo have leveled off now, still very good, but I caught the tail end of the red hot bite.

Gentleman, did any of you who went to Puerto Vallarta get in with any good boats? Currently I have 10 of us out of 25 that are looking at getting a charter between the 25th and 29th of January. I looked at the Mr. Marlin HSOforum and he has a 50' pacemaker that will take our group out to the cow grounds for a little over a grand. Just wondering if there are any others I should be looking at?

We just got back from Cabo on Monday and had a great trip. We went fishing on Sunday, and what a trip! We went out in the morning for tuna so we could all catch some fish. We were out about 15 miles and ran into a pod of not less then 500 porpoises. That in it self was worth the trip. They were chasing a school of Yellow Fin Tuna and they were thick. We caught 12 in 1 1/2 hours! After that we decided to go after some Marlin and ended up boating 2 one was a striperthat went 210#. The deal was good and the Capain really knew his stuff and couldn't have been nicer or harder working. I'll never fish with anyone else down there again. The boat was the Tailchaser booked through BJC Sportfishing right in the marina. The capt. name was Lalo.
