So you don't ice fish.. what do you do during hard water? I am one of the few or perhaps many who do not ice fish. I am here reading about ice fishing as this is the place to be here on FM now I am not saying I have not been ice fishing I just don't have the patience for it. One of the big reason why I am a die hard bass fishermen, I got to be doing something not watching a tip up. So what to you do during the winter.. I let fantasy football take me deep into Jan then there is always the honey do list that never seems to get touched during fishing season. This winters project is going to be a home remodeling job with a home theater. Had another son move out so there is an empty room just calling to be converted. So we are doing research on big screen tv against a projection system. That should be good to fill in some time.. Anybody else out there not Ice fish...

I see you have never caught a bass through the ice. FUN!!! We all have a honey do list. I`m doing one now (on a FM break). You should try and come to an iceleaders event. If I`m at that one I will take you out and show you what makes icefishing so much fun. laugh.gif Just bring yourself and I have all the equipment for the day. Hope to see you there. grin.gif

I ice fish but on the topic of TV's... I am also looking into this topic for our new basement in the new house.

I got the low down from my cousin and he said if you are into movies, sports, music video's go with projection. With those events you sit a little further away from the screen so the clarity looks fine, but if you are up close the clarity is not so good.

Another good thing about a projection is you can hook any computer right up to it for your media center.

Go check out Best Buy and their home entertainment center (can't remember the brand) but they have some great staff in there that will help you with the decision.

PS - I have approximately a 15 x 30 room that I am putting it in so it will be theater seating and speakers.

PSS - Speakers are very important in your entertainment center, don't go cheap on them!

Ice fishing is what you want it to be. I personally prefer it over open water fishing. You don't have to sit there all day and watch a tip up. You can move from location to location until you find the fish. A little more work is involved in this type of fishing but it can be very rewarding. Just my .02.

Why not just put a small tv in your fish house and watch tv and catch fish? Ran DirecTV for two winters in the fish house and it was great. Went with the Platinum line up and had pretty much every channel in the fish house.

Some of the largest bass I've seen have come through the ice! I've even caught limits of 2-5 lb bass on tip ups in a day. The lake was great tasting winter bass, very flakey meat but now the bass seem to have worms, don't keep them anymore. My father put a 7.5 pounder on the wall caught on a tip up fishing for pike.

I have ice fished, took more then a few trips into the BWCA for trout, Did some walleye fishing on Pike and help build a few fish houses for buddies in my day. Just don't see the thrill of freezing my butt off walking Thur slush to not catch anything. Hands and feet don't stay warm anymore and I know there are guys out there that just have a great time and have seen houses that rival some cabins. Just not for me. Would rather be mobile in the boat cruising a nice shoreline with a warm breeze at my back. Sigh... now I am thinking about summer and it's a long ways away.... smirk.gif
