Ah Ha!

I found it. Of course Fisky had to basically knock me over the head with it, but check this thread out. There are some BIG sturgeon in that river.

I'd copy the pics to this thread but theres a lot of pics in that thread.

Hibbing, of course you can weasel in, these cat guys threw the idea out here first only 'cause the Sturgeonfish has whiskers I'd reckon!

And also it'd be great for you to make it 'cause folks may rather tie up to your boat vs. anchoring themselves after seeing that pic of your WHALE! grin.gif

You know Hibbing I've fished up here all my life and I am jealous of you! What a catch.....WOW!

Thanks Fiskyknut! I was tied up all night reading a post in the RR forum! grin.gif

If the likes of mortgage/musky guys are going...anyone can go! LOL!

Just an FYI for any non registered lurkers...YOU are welcome too! You don't have to be a member of anysite...just need to want to have a good time with a chance to land a biggun! I should point out that once you fish with this crowd...I'm guessing you'll want to register!

As far as open seats and rides go...we can work that out a little later. If you can line up a seat on your own and/or post if you'll be taking a boat and have an open seat...that would be great!

At this point we're just trying to get the best cabin price we can... and we need a count to make that happen.

Big G? Are you counted as in? Need a room? Staying with JP? (please leave HB at home, I'm in enough trouble already! crazy.gif)

I forgot all about posting the pics of the sturg from our trip. Thanks for bringing back great memories Dennis. I still am getting excited about next spring...gotta tie into one bigger than my 50 incher. I had her last April. Fought her for a good half hour without seeing her then she came unbuttoned. She was "THE ONE." grin.gif

Put me, and a yet to be named player, down as definitely a strong maybe. We would probably day trip it from Hibbing or stay with a friend. Gotta put some serious seat time in 4 Mile Bay in an attempt to beat my personal best!

There wouldn't be any type of wagerin' at this event would there?

Coool your gonna make it Mr. Hibbing, serious is right you may have the Sturgeonfish of a lifetime with that one.

You brought up a friendly wager, and I've done the Sturgeon thing up here a time or 2 since the 70's with only a non-girthy 64 to show for it....{it's thin not small}!

Now with a wagering brought in, and in order to make it all a level playing field for all, Mr. Hibbing we would need to know whether you carry a Rabbit's foot or a horseshoe in your boat? confused.gifgrin.gif

I could see maybe a 'community pot' type wager thrown in by each angler who may want to, we could all keep it honest, with maybe something like......

Buck from everyone for the angler with the first Sturgeon.

Buck for the biggest.

Buck for the most.

Buck for the smallest?

Catch a burbot and that'd be another buck from you to the angler with the biggest.

This Burbot clause could get interesting too. 4-5 years ago on the bay in spring a buddy and I were a fish'n Sturgeon. Well he got 6 or 7 nice Sturgeon, Me not a 1, but I caught an easy 25 Burbot.....Ouch!

Individual wagerings at the discretion each Angler involved of course.

Brian now you know what I mean with the 'long and windy' bit and such prior on this thread eh! Need more on my position, lol, thats where the sarcasm ? came from in that e-mail eh.

Good ideas there Fisky!

I like the "friendly wager" idea.

Wiskers has done the $10 entry, biggest fish takes the pot on the Red Lake River in Crookston for his little gathering.

I think for the sturgeon, it should probably be longest or maybe length x girth measurements verified with digital photos. Just a thought... Everybody meet up afterwards and share photos, stories, and see who takes the kitty.

$5 for biggest fish, $5 for smallest fish maybe. Keep it rather cheap.

If I have anyone in the wrong group, please let me know. Some of the "I'll be there" posts were a little vague on if they needed a room or not. I'm trying my best to keep up!

If this is the case, everyone should bring up five extra bucks to loan Dennis. wink.gif

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
