Food Savers?

I was wondering if anyone has any advice or info on food savers?What brand is the best,and how the different model #'s differ?

Depends how much money you want to spend. I didn't want to spend much and just wanted to try it. I bought the food saver "mini" series. It cost only $40, but only does up to 8 inch bags and only vacuums and seals bags.

In hindsight, it was a good choice for me, and does 95% of what I want to do. But there are other models that do bigger bags and fancier things.

I bought a cheap one the first time. You'll use it all the time once you get it. Burnt it out in just less than a year. I think it was a Black & Decker. Now I got a $160 one that cuts the bags on the machine etc... Does a better job and has done a lot more sealing.

I have a model 750 Foodsaver from Fleet.

I love it. Not the fanciest model, but it works just great.

I have been making my own venison sausage, brats, etc, and packaged it all with the Foodsaver.
