Replacement Blades for a Nils Auger

Recommended Posts

I bought a Nils last season and I always try to have a spare blade on hand just in case. My question is I saw the have a center point blade and the regular shaving blade. I assume the center point isn't standard with the auger but should I buy one as the replacement? What advantages does it have? Thanks, Jeff

From what I understand the center point blade is going to be standard on power augers this year. It should make it easier to drill holes close to each other (spearing shack, live wells, etc), make it easier to get more life out of blades by avoiding any "walking" associated with dulling shaving blades, and it will help protect the main cutting blades from getting damaged from people hitting them against the ice.

They have been around for a few years as a option but I have not used one yet. I plan on getting another head soon and I'll take some pics of it.

You mean my Nils just got better? The best keep getting better I guess. That centerpoint will be great for saving life on the blades. I didnt have any problems with my blades walking before but this is a great idea. As Bob D said it will make drilling holes real close a lot easier and the on ice livewell is a great idea. Well I guess I better call and order my new centerpoint 8" blade assembly now before the ice hits. grin.gif
